Belarus and all other nations will move to paying a market rate for natural gas as required by a contract concluded by Gazprom with Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Jan. 12. Lavrov added that the rate will be determined by the distance of the delivery and how much gas is required. For 2006, Belarus has already negotiated to receive natural gas at $46.68 per thousand cubic meters.
