58 songs submitted to Belarusian selection

Belarusian national broadcaster BT have announced that 58 songs were submitted for their national selection.

An internal jury will now select 15 songs from this to go through to the national selection to be held on 10th February. The top-3 will be chosen by televoters, then the winner will be selected internally. The Belarussian representative in Athens will be known in the last week of February.

In 2005, Angelica Agurbash won the national selection with Boys & girls, but decided to pick another song. After negative comments from the fan scene, a website poll had to decide the song she would take to Kyiv. With Love me tonight, a giant party, a huge promotion team and a lot of press attention, the diva came 13th during the semifinal.

Due to Angelica's disappointing result, Belarus have to enter the contest through the semifinal, on 18th May in Athens. In November, Belarus won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Hasselt, Belgium. Kseniya Sitnik became the third winner for the contest with her song My Vmeste. Will this now be third time lucky for Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest?
