Belarus buys Russian gas at lowest price in CIS - Putin

MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Russia sells natural gas to Belarus at the lowest price among all the CIS countries, and that should provide support to the Belarussian economy, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Poland buys our gas at $270 per 1,000 cubic meters. This means that a market-based price for Belarus should have been $260 per 1,000 cubic metes. The Russian Federation has agreed to sell gas not at a market price - $100 per 1,000 cubic meters. This is the lowest price in the CIS. Even such a country as Armenia, where there are not a few problems, pays $110 per 1,000 cubic meters," Putin said meeting with Russian government members on Tuesday.

Moreover, Russia is not levying an export duty on its gas exports to Belarus, costing it $3.33 billion annually, he said.
