Russia, Belarus Talk Oil Pipeline

Moscow, Jan10 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarus Alexander Lukashenko conversed by telephone on Wednesday over the situation of Russian oil transportation to the West through the central European republic, a Kremlin source said.

The presidents spoke about Russian-Belarusian economic cooperation, including energy problems and oil transportation through Belarus, a press presidential source said.

Russia had suspended oil transportation to the European Union through its neighboring ex Soviet republic, which it accused of stealing oil from the Amistad oil pipeline.

The Belarusian presidential press service reported on Wednesday that Moscow and Minsk had reached an agreement about the issue, although no Russian source has confirmed that report.

Russia currently exports 20 percent of its oil through the Amistad oil pipeline.
