Dima Koldun to sing new song Eurofest final live on TV next Monday

On Monday, January 22nd, the Belorussian audience will find out who will be representing the country in the next Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. The Road to Eurovision final show will start at 19:20 at the Palace of Sports and it will be hosted by Denis Kurian and by Olga Schlager (in the studio).

Child stars Xenia Sitnik, winner of the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest and Andrey Kunets, who represented Belarus in the 2006 edition of the Junior contest will open the show. The three finalists will follow with the performances of their songs. Diana Gurtskaya will sing her ballad How long, The Project will perform their showbiz parody S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R. and Dmitry "Dima" Koldun will perform his new song Work your magic, which was recently recorded in Greece after his original entry was disqualified.

The new song was written by Philip Kirkorov, the Russian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 (17th with Kolibelnaya dlya vulkana) and Karen Kavaleryan and it is an uptempo pop dance song that would go very well in a James Bond movie. Philip said that Work your magic was very important to him and he was treasuring this song for himself. Russian newspaper Tvoj Den also reports that although he had been asked repeatedly to represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest, Philip decided to give the song to Dmitry instead as he is a young and promising artist.

The show will also feature some very special guests to the delight of the fans. Carola from Sweden, Dima Bilan from Russia as well as Cosmos and Marie N from Latvia have all accepted TVR's invitation to perform during this year's Eurofest.

The winner will be decided by a special jury led by Professor Mikhail Finberg. The jury will not be present inside the Palace of Sports, but at the Belteleradiocompany watching the show on a TV screen. The purpose of this is for the jury to judge just like the average TV viewer would on the night of the actual contest without interference from the crowd or the live atmosphere of the event. The results will be announced at the end of the show.

The Road to Eurovision will be aired on TVR's First Channel as well as on Belarus TV Channel. You can find a 24h webcast of Belarus TV here (external link).
