Turkmenistan, Belarus sign protocol on trade-economic cooperation

A protocol of the first meeting of the Turkmen-Belarusian intergovernmental commission for trade-economic cooperation was signed in Minsk today. The document was signed by Belarusian vice premiere Alexander Kosinets and Turkmen vice premiere Hydyr Saparliyev.

As Alexander Kosinets said in an interview with Belarusian telegraph agency (BelTA), the first meeting of the commission was held on the year of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Turkmenistan. According to him, a lot has been achieved in bilateral relations in this period. The direct flight Minks-Ashgabat has been launched, and a number of Turkmen students studying in Belarusian higher educational establishments have increased.

"The sides outlined avenues of mutually beneficial investment cooperation in the sphere of construction of roads and bridges and pipelines servicing. We also have plans for gas wells repair in Turkmenistan and for overall development of cooperation in petrochemical and energy spheres," the Belarusian vice premiere said.

According to him, the two countries have specified "a very broad range of issues in bilateral partnership that need to be addressed in a short time."
