Belarus confirms positive changes on Belarusian-Polish border

MINSK, January 29 (Itar-Tass) Belarusian border guards have confirmed positive changes in the situation on the Belarusian-Polish frontier.

"Polish customs officers have resumed their work on the Belarusian border. The Varshavsky Most checkpoint is operational for cars [not trucks]. The situation is normalizing in the Grodno area. We know that Polish customs will soon start clearing trucks at the Kozlovichi checkpoint," Belarusian State Border Committee spokesman Alexander Tishchenko said.

Border guards are ready for the large flow of vehicles and citizens, he said.

Meanwhile, the Belarusian Justice Ministry is drafting lawsuits against Poland for compensating the damage that resulted from the strike of Polish customs officers, Deputy Justice Minister Igor Tushinsky said.

"We are estimating the damage. It is already clear that they have breached no less than three agreements between Belarus and Poland," the official said.
