Belarus MFA Press Secretary Andrei Popov comments for the media on the Belarus resolution passed by the European Parliament
The Belarusian side follows closely the discussion held by the European Parliament regarding the prospects of relations between Belarus and the EU. We would like to take positive note of the constructive elements of the European Parliament's new resolution on Belarus dated 15 January that followed up with the earlier agreements struck during the official contacts between Minsk and Brussels.
At the same time, we have to state, though, that the MEPs failed to proceed, in full measure, without obsolete stereotypes and bias towards our nation.
We believe that Belarus and the European Union should continue joint work on the issues of interest for both sides including those where differences do persist. We are convinced, the way we have been before, that the dialogue should be based on mutual respect and equality of interests.
