Polish Deputy Econ Min: Gas Flow Via Belarus At Maximum Level

WARSAW -(Dow Jones)- Deliveries of Russian natural gas to Poland via Belarus are at maximum level to compensate for reduced flows from Ukraine, Deputy Economy Minister Adam Szejnfeld said Tuesday.

Szejnfeld told TVN24 television that deliveries via Ukraine were now at the " technical minimum" required to keep the pipeline in operation.

On Friday, gas supplies to Poland via Ukraine fell 6% after Russia's OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) cut supplies to Ukraine on New Year's Day in a dispute over payments.

On Monday, the spat intensified and Russia slashed its gas exports via Ukraine further.

Poland imports roughly 70% of the natural gas it consumes, mostly from Russia via Belarus and Ukraine.
