Minsk disagrees with export duty levied on Russian crude supply to Belarus

Interfax-Ukraine

Minsk, January 25 (Interfax) - The Russian levying of export duties on crude and petroleum products supplied to Belarus is unlawful, Belarusian Customs Committee Chairman Alexander Shpilevsky told a press conference in Minsk.

"The agreement on crude deliveries to Belarus was reached three years ago. It is still valid," he said. According to the agreement custom duties have not been allowed since Jan. 1, 2010, he said.

"Russia seceded from the agreement and started to unlawfully levy export duties on Russian economic agents," he said.

The Belarusian customs service is ready to respond if authorized by the republican authorities. "The Customs Committee is an instrument of the president and the government. If a decision is made, we will abide by it," Shpilevsky said.
