Russia Cuts Off Oil to Belarus

A dispute between Russia and Belarus could leave many Europeans shivering in another cold winter if it halts supplies of heating fuel.

Russia has cut off crude oil supplies to Belarus after the two sides couldn't agree on a new tariffs.

It's similar to the dispute that led Russia to cut off natural gas supplies to Ukraine a year ago, while much of eastern Europe froze in record cold temperatures.

Both Russia and Belarus say the pipeline to Europe is still open, and the two sides continue to negotiate.

Oil traders say the two main refineries in Belarus have enough crude to continue for about a week without new supplies.
