European Parliament to discuss sanctions against Minsk
Today the EP sitting opens in Belarus, during which the current situation in Belarus will be discussed.
The European Parliament's foreign affairs committee is set to discuss the current situation in Belarus together with members of the Belarusian opposition in a special session.
The European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton's statement on the situation in Belarus is to be expected.
European leaders said Wednesday Belarus could face stiff sanctions if dissidents arrested after the disputed election remain in prison. The European Union criticized the result of the presidential election in Belarus and the circumstances that followed it.
