Russia sends ambassador to Belarus inauguration
Russia's Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov will represent our country at the inauguration ceremony of newly re-elected president Alexander Lukashenko.
The invitation from the Belarusian side has already been received, adviser with the Russian diplomatic mission in Minsk Vadim Gusev said.
The ceremony set for January 21st follows the incumbent president's re-election for a fourth term on December 19th.
Having failed to recognize the results of the elections as legitimate, the country's opposition instigated mass disorders in Minsk, which resulted in the arrests of hundreds of people, including former presidential candidates.
