22 February 2006 -- The Polish government is funding an independent radio station aimed at promoting democracy and freedom of speech in Belarus.
Radio Racja (Radio Reason) is set to hit the air before Belarus's 19 March presidential election. The station is being set up in the northeastern Polish city of Bialystok.
Officials say some of Radio Racja's programs will be broadcast on FM via a local radio station in Vilnius to regions in Belarus bordering Lithuania.
