Belarus KGB intensifies actions against opposition, claims another cash spy scandal

Belarus KGB reported arresting three locals trying to cash illegally three checks of the US Citibank totaling $500 dollars, local media reported. They tried to bribe an official of the banks of the capital to bypass normal reporting procedures, offering 2 percent of the total sum of cashed checks. The money supposedly was to be used for opposition purposes.

In the Belarus city of Salihorsk special services started clamping oppositional Young Front. Belarus KGB officers arrived from Minsk to put pressure on the opposition activists after slogans "Fed Up With Him!" and "We Want a New One!" emerged in the town overnight, protesting Lukashenko's rule. There were about 300 of them on Sunday morning. Ivan Shyla, the leader of Salihorsk Young Front branch, was summoned for interrogation. The others were pressured at schools being summoned to the interrogation in the presence of the principal and secret police officials. The young activists were threatened and insulted, local media oppositional media reported. They were told that everything would be revealed and they would be punished for anti-state activities.

A report concerning libeling a state officer has been drawn up against Ivan Shyla, who was invited for a conversation with KGB officer in presence of the schoolmaster.
