Cuba Cheers Belarus for Youth Fest
Havana, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Julio Martinez, first secretary of the Cuban Young Communists League (UJC), congratulated Belarus for being the choice for venue of the 15th World Festival of Youth and Students.
In this capital with Leonid Kovalev, general secretary of the Belarus Republican Youth, Martinez expressed confidence that the 2009 summer event will be a success, "Juventud Rebelde" newspaper reported Wednesday.
The island's youth leader also talked of the importance for young people worldwide to meet again in Europe to make evident the anti-imperialist spirit of that event.
Martinez said that the Festival is an expression of fighting for a better world, a party for peace, solidarity and brotherhood.
He also insisted on turning this forum into a space to denounce the unfairly imprisonment in United States of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters against terrorism.
The agenda of Martinez, who started a visit to that nation Tuesday, includes a meeting with Tatiana Golubeeva, general secretary of the Communist Party, and other leaders from the Belarus government and Parliament.
