A business forum with reps of Azerbaijan and Belarus opened in Baku

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. A business forum with involvemernt of reps of Byelorussian business circles has opened today in the Baku-based Kaspiy Hotel. The Byelorussian delegation at the head of Nikolay Sakhar, first deputy of Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Belarus, arrived in Baku today.

Addressing to the forum, Sakhar said that the Byelorussian delegates represent 11 companies of varous sectors of country's economy.

"Co-operation with Azerbaijan can compose a range of additional directions, including investment projects," Sakhar said.

He also invited counterparts from the Chamber of Comemrcie & Industry of Azerbaijan to pay a return visit to Belarus.

BelTPP (Byelorussian Chamber of Commerce & Industry) is a public organization numbering 1,600 members in its ranks. Its major activity is in issue of cetificates for exported products.

Nikolay Patskevich, the Byelorussian ambassador to Azerbaijan, brought some data characterizing the current state of Byelorussian economy - last year's foreign trade turnover of Belarus totaled $72 bn and pace of its agriculture growth is almost 9%.

"Specific features of economies of Belarus and Azerbaijan allow them to co-operate closely. The two countries' leaders have an arrangement on increase of bilateral trade turnover up to $500 million a year and by the present the level of $110 million has been achieved. The issue will also be discussed at the fifth session of the Azerbaijan-Belarus Intergovernmental Commission on Trade & Economic Co-operation. The session is scheduled for an upcoming month," Patskevich said.
