Czech experts to inspect Belorussian artillery

Prague, Feb 16 (CTK) - Czech inspectors will be evaluating for 12 hours a Belorussian artillery group close to Osipovichi, southeast of the capital on Minsk on Wednesday within the Vienna Document of 1999, the Czech Defence Ministry has told CTK.

The Czech experts from the Defence Ministry and one inspector from the Belgian evaluation centre will be able to take photographs, enter all military structures and talk to members of the evaluated 51st artillery group.

The goal of the mission is to evaluate the data that Belarus has stated on the group in the Annual Exchange of Information.

Every state participating in the Vienna Document must at least once a year allow an evaluation visit to a unit or command of its armed forces that checks the number of persons and equipment.

The evaluation visit is one of a range of activities carried out under the Vienna Document, the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe and the Open Skies Treaty.

The Czech Republic has this year accepted a Russian evaluation visit in February. Further three inspections under the Vienna Document, four inspections under the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty and four observation flights under the Open Skies Treaty will follow this year.
