Russia, Belarus to adopt joint anti-crisis plan

Russia and Belarus plan to introduce an anti-crisis action plan today, Presidents Dmitry Medvedev of Russia and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus were cited by the Mayak radio station as saying. The two leaders acknowledged that the global crisis had affected the Russia and Belarus Union State's economy, making the development of economic relations between the two countries even more vital. Medvedev stressed that concrete anti-crisis proposals and documents had already been drafted and would be reviewed at today's meeting. The Union State's budget is also expected to be approved, Medvedev stated, adding that an increase in the budget had been planned in order to implement the union's programs more effectively. He also noted that the creation of a single economic and customs zone remained one of Russia and Belarus's priorities.
