Belarus-Venezuela cooperation in oil industry has good prospects

Cooperation of Belarusian companies with Venezuela in oil and other sectors of the economy has good prospects despite the global financial-economic crisis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of Belarus Americo Diaz Nunes told a press conference on February 2.

Despite the global crisis and low oil prices, the interaction of Belarusian partners with the PDVSA state-run oil corporation will be developing effectively. According to him, Petrolera BeloVenezolana services the largest oil wells. "Belarusians have secured a foothold there. They are also developing new wells and exploring new oil fields," the Ambassador said. According to the diplomat, there are more than 20,000 oil wells in Venezuela. A new zone is being developed in the area on the border with Colombia where Belarusian companies are developing oil and phosphate deposits, reported Belta.

The Ambassador noted that Belarus and Venezuela have been developing cooperation in the construction sector. The project to construct the Tekire Flores agro-town has slowed down a bit. The construction sites are not ready so far, but the issue will be solved in the near future. The Ambassador praised last year's bilateral cooperation. Most part of 69 contracts have been executed.
