Iran Ready to Build Cement Plants in Belarus

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Ali Akbar Mehrabian announced Iran's readiness to build several cement-production plants in Belarus.

"Iran is ready to launch the needed cement production plants in Belarus with the best quality and at the lowest price within 24 to 30 months," Mehrabian said in a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, he referred to the bilateral relations between the two countries, and said Belarus is one of the most important partners of Iran and the two countries are conducting joint projects in energy, mining, petrochemical, microelectronic and auto-making industries.

"The implementation and operation of the two countries' defined industrial and mining projects will cause development of bilateral ties," Mehrabian said, reiterating that the projects should be implemented in due time.

During the meeting, Martynov described the two countries' joint production projects as important for Belarus, and said, "Operation of these projects guarantees the (continuation of) relations between the two countries."

He also termed the production of the Iranian passenger car, Samand, in Belarus important, and said Minsk is ready to supply the needed machinery for the Iranian mining industries.

Martynov expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Iranian banks in Belarus, reminding that Iranian banks can facilitate trade between the two countries.
