Belarus Imports 41% Less Rough Diamonds

Belarus' rough diamond imports fell by 41 percent in terms of carats to 50,800 carats last year, while the value of such imports rose by 34.2 percent to US$21.6 million, says a spokesman for the Belarussian Finance Ministry.

In the final quarter of 2005 Belarus imported 13,300 carats of rough valued at US$16.25 million. In 2005, Belarus exported 531.95 carats for US$6,610.
