Belarus Continues Prospecting For Diamonds

Belarussian geologists are convinced that prospecting must continue for diamonds and other mineral products in the country, says Andrei Kovkhuto, Deputy Head of the geology department at the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry.

"Drilling was conducted at eight pipe-like magnetic anomalies, as planned, and an assessment was conducted of the Shlyakh Selyanina structure in the Gomel region. The presence of certain minerals and rock in the strata that constitute this structure indicates the promise of these properties and the need to continue exploration work here," he explains.

"In 2007, as was planned, work will continue in Belarus to prospect for and explore our own deposits of gold, diamonds and amber," Kovkhuto concludes.
