Picket in support of Belarus' youth opposition leader held in front of KGB headquarters in Minsk

A rally with a demand to release Dzyanis Dzyanisau, an activist of the youth opposition Young Front (Molodoi front) organization took place in front of the KGB head office in Minsk yesterday. Five activists of a youth initiative "Bunt" (Revolt) placed a streamer "Bunt is for Dzyanisau Freedom" there. No one has been detained, Khartia'97 reports today.

Dzyanis Dzyanisau was arrested by Belarus' KGB on February 16. Dzyanis Dzyanisau is kept in remand prison No.2 in Vitsebsk now. Last year a criminal action was brought up against him on charges relating "organizing of group actions roughly violating public order". The criminal action was initiated after numerous oppositional leaflets and graffiti emerged in Vitsebsk. The activist faces up to three years of imprisonment under this article.

Activists of the Young Front have also applied to the Belarusian KGB with the demand to immediately return the computer system blocks that were confiscated from them during the searches of their apartments that were conducted on February 4. According to the press-service of the Young Front, the KGB investigators haven't provided any documents confirming that an expertise of the confiscated equipment was conducted. That's why the activist demanded that the system blocks were returned.
