Belarus KGB said to have broken up timber export rings

The State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus has broken up two rings that stole timber and exported it, daily Belarusskiye Novosti reports from Minsk, referring to Dmitry Reutski, a departmental chief at the KGB's Economic Security Office.

One of the rings reportedly involved 15 people and the other one consisted of 20 people, Reutski said, noting that these two groups accounted for about 10 percent of all timber exports from Belarus. The case against the first group has already been sent to the Supreme Court of Belarus for trial, while the accused involved in the other case are currently study the investigation material, the paper cites the KGB official.
