Belarus supports China measures to ensure territorial integrity

MINSK. March 19. KAZINFORM. Belarus supports measures of China's leadership to ensure the country's territorial integrity, said Andrei Popov, the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the latest events in the Tibetan autonomous district of the People's Republic of China.

"The events in that district of China are given our constant attention. The Belarusian side invariably regards Tibet as part and parcel of China and confirms its support for measures of the PRC leadership that are aimed to ensure the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said.

Minsk expresses confidence that "the present unlawful actions in the autonomous district will shortly be stopped, and life of its population will return to normal."

"At the same time we regard it unacceptable to link these events with the prospects for the holding of the summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.

We have no doubt that the Chinese side will do everything to ensure security of participants in the Olympics and guests," said the Belarusian Foreign Ministry's spokesman.
