Boris Berezovsky's former lawyer, arrested by Belarus KGB, suspected of document forgery

US citizen Emanuel Zeltser, a former lawyer of Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky, and his secretary, a citizen of Russia Vladlena Funk, have been placed to the pretrial detention centre of the State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB). They are suspected of document forgery, the Moscow based-daily Kommersant writes, referring to unofficial sources. The newspaper also notes that they were detained right after arrival in Minsk airport on March 12 by the KGB agents and haven't been presented any official charges.

Meanwhile, it was hard to say for the official representative of the Belarusian KGB Valery Nadtochayev what documents could be possibly meant, and how they could be used in the country by the people who had just left the plane, online paper Khartiya'98 points out. It says the Belarus' KGB, despite media reports for more than a week saying it is holding Zeltser and Funk in a detention facility outside Minsk, on Friday continued to deny knowledge of the pair. - As before I know absolutely nothing about that, - news agency DPA cites KGB's Valery Nadtochayev.
