Belarussian KGB sues detained American citizen

MINSK, March 26 (Itar-Tass) -- The State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB) instituted criminal proceedings against detained US citizen, lawyer Emmanuil Zeltzer, Valery Nadtachayev, the chief of the KGB information and public relations centre, reports.

"We confirm that Zeltzer was detained and is held in a KGB detention centre. He is charged in connection with the use of forged documents by a group of persons," Nadtachayev said.

Zeltzer was detained on March 12. He is regarded as an expert in financing. He was implicated in the high-profile case of money laundering through the Bank of New York. In the 90s the Russian Incombank accused Zeltzer of stealing 40 million dollars, and a lawsuit was brought against him in New York.
