Belarus KGB officers attempt to question another member of opposition youth association

Officers of the Gomel regional department of the Belarus State Security Committee (KGB) attempted to question Andrei Stryzhak, a member of the Hramadzyanski Forum (Civil Forum) youth association, at the military registration and enlistment office in Rechytsa, news agency BelaPAN reports. Stryzhak told the news agency that he was summoned to appear at the office for a "data check." When the young man arrived at the office, he was met by two KGB officers, who identified themselves as Sergei Kozlow and Yury Filonenko. The officers described the interview as a "mere conversation" and said that they had the right to conduct investigative activities in all buildings, including at a military registration and enlistment office.

"They asked questions on general subjects during the next 20 minutes. I gave no replies, which brought the conversation to a deadlock and an end on my initiative," Stryzhak told BelaPAN. The interview took place two weeks after a KGB officer interviewed another member of Hramadzyanski Forum, at the Zhytkavichy military registration and enlistment office.
