MOSCOW, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday to discuss anti-crisis measures amid the ongoing global economic downturn, the president's press secretary said.
"The presidents have discussed in detail the additional measures, which need to be employed to prevent a slowdown in the Russian-Belarusian economic cooperation during the financial crisis," Natalya Timakova said.
The leaders agreed that the finance ministries of the two countries would hold a meeting on Friday "to further discuss future loans and other forms of economic cooperation," Timakova said.
The two presidents also touched upon energy cooperation, she said, adding that a working group would be formed to facilitate bilateral cooperation in the power industry, nuclear energy, and gas sector.
