China, Belarus Hail Bilateral Ties

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Wednesday hailed the Sino-Belarusian ties as an example for nation-to-nation relations.

He made the remarks when meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

He said the Sino-Belarusian ties have been developing in a healthy and steady way since inception and have a new phase of development in recent years thanks to the continuous efforts of the leadership of both countries.

The Chinese government regards Belarus as a trustworthy partner and will firmly dedicate itself to promoting the long-enduring, healthy and stable development of bilateral ties, he added.

Such policy not only serves the fundamental interests of both countries and their people, but also is conducive to the peaceful development of the region, he noted.

Lukashenko, for his part, said Belarus highly values the mutual political trust and understanding with China.

He said the efficient talks with Xi again demonstrated the readiness of both sides to further enhance mutually beneficial cooperation for the welfare of their people.

Belarus is dedicated to strengthening its ties with China, he added.

Xi arrived here Wednesday afternoon for an official visit at the invitation of Lukashenko.

Belarus is the second leg of Xi's four-nation Europe tour after his visit to Russia. He will also travel to Finland and Sweden.
