Azerbaijan and Belarus held political talks

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Belarus have conducted political consultations in Baku.

According to the Azerbaijani MFA, during them the sides discussed issues of bilateral relationships, further mutual high-level visits, activation of inter-parliamentary ties, coordination of co-operation within the framework of international organizations, and collaboration within European Union's initiative Eastern Partnership. The parties also covered themes of inter-regional cooperation, partnership on consular matters, strengthening of agreement and legal base, thematic consultations between two countries' MFAs and other actual issues.

In the course of talks it was stressed high level of political links and importance of expansion of economic ties, including in the area of machine building, agro-industrial complex, logistics, education, culture and humanitarian field. As for Garabagh conflict, it was underlined that the only way to achieve stable peace in the region is to settle this conflict on the basis of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and remove heavy consequences of Armenian occupation.

The sides pointed out that Azerbaijan-Belarus co-operation within the frames of UN, OSCE and other international organizations and within the EU initiative Eastern Partnership opens wider opportunities for deepening relationships. There were studied opportunities of partnership in the sphere of training and improvement of diplomatic personnel qualification. The parties also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
