Gazprom has increased its stake in the Beltransgaz company to 50 percent

MOSCOW, March 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Gazprom has increased its stake in the Beltransgaz company to 50 percent.

Before, Gazprom's share in the Beltransgaz charter capital accounted for 37.5 percent, the Russian gas company said in its report.

As was earlier reported, Gazprom transferred 625 million dollars in its payment in mid-February for the next 12.5 percent of shares in Beltransgaz.

On May 18, 2007, the Belarusian State Committee for Property and Gazprom signed an agreement on selling of a part of Beltransgaz shares belonging to Belarus to Gazprom. In accordance with the agreement, Gazprom buys 50 percent of the Beltransgaz shares for 2.5 billion dollars.

The Russian gas company has also bought 50 percent of the shares in the South Stream Hungary company. Before that, Gazprom had no share in the company's charter capital.

The gas giant also reported about the liquidation of Volta S.p.A. (Italy), in the charter capital of which it had 49 percent, and also the liquidation of Slovrusgaz (Slovakia), where it had 50 percent.
