Belarus sets free 2 Russians

Two Russian nationals arrested in Belarus after a mass protest following the reelection of President Alexander Lukashenko, walked free after being fined $3,500 each on Thursday.

Artyom Breus and Ivan Gaponov were among dozens who were detained after clashing with police in Minsk on December 19 of last year, following President Alexander Lukashenko’s reelection for a new term.

However, none of the 15 police witnesses for the prosecution recognized the two Russians among those who attacked them during the December 19 riots.
