Belarus KGB initiates criminal action against youth activist

A criminal case was initiated last week against a Belarus youth leader Sergey Marchyk from the city of Baranavichy for violating an Article 193 Part 1 of the Criminal Code (activities on behalf of an unregistered organization (The Young Front). The KGB officers held searches in the apartments of Marchyk and several other activists. Printed materials, publications of independent newspapers, private computers were seized. At the moment the criminal action initiated against Marchyk only, and others are witnesses in the case, the Belarus human rights center Viasna informs. To remind, Article 193 of the Criminal Code of Belarus was amended by the Belarus KGB chief Stepan Suhorenko.
