Belarus Prime Minister to Visit Cuba

Serguei Sergueivich Sidorski, Prime Minister of Belarus, begins an official visit to Cuba on Thursday, April 20th at the invitation of Cuban President Fidel Castro.

The visit by the head of the Belarus government is within the context of the excellent political, friendship and cooperation links between the two countries that established diplomatic links on April 16, 1992.

Belarus is located in Eastern Europe. Its northern and eastern borders are with Russia, to the southeast and south with the Ukraine, to the west with Poland and to the northwest with Latvia and Lithuania. It has a territorial extension of 207,600 square kilometers and an estimated population of 9.8 million, according to official sources. Its capital is Minsk.

The National Day is celebrated on July 3rd, the day when the country was liberated in 1945 from Nazi occupation.

During his stay in Cuba, the Belarus PM and his delegation will carry out an intensive schedule that includes official talks with Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, as well as meetings with other leaders of the Revolution and visits to places of historical and social interest.
