ForMin launches tender for Belarus education projects

Prague, April 20 (CTK) - The Foreign Ministry today launched a tender for education projects for Belarus designed to help the persecuted members of the Belarussian opposition.

The Czech Republic has several times said it will continue to support the Belarussian opposition through various programmes.

The tender offers scholarships, training stays, short-term study stays and other types of education projects.

Focus is on the humanities and social sciences, particularly European studies, international relations, law, economics, journalism, foreign languages and the state administration and self-rule.

The projects target university students and other young Belorussians who may not be able to complete their studies in their country because they participated in anti-regime demonstrations during the March presidential elections.

The government decided in end of March to earmark CZK 20 million for projects for Belorussian dissidents.

Some Czech universities, including Charles University in Prague, have offered studies to Belarussian students.
