Cuban, Belarussian companies sign multi-million deals

Cuban and Belarussian companies have signed contracts involving a total of 12 million U.S. dollars, the Cuban Chamber of Commerce (CCC) said in a statement on Friday.

The visiting Belarussian Prime Minister, Sergei Sidorsky, and Vladimir Bobrov, of the Belarussian Chamber of Commerce attended the signing ceremony at the end of a CCC meeting, which was attended by 14 Belarussian and 28 Cuban companies.

Visiting Belarussian companies included truck makers MAZ and BELAZ, the tractor manufacturer MTZ and the motor maker MMZ. Shoe makers and enterprises in the areas of electronics, petrochemicals were also present at the meeting.

The delegation arrived in Cuba on Thursday night.

Trade volume between Belarus and Cuba currently stands at around 19 million U.S. dollars a year.

Belarus was one of Cuba's main trade partners in the Soviet era, exporting farm equipment, heavy engineering facilities and fertilizer to the Caribbean country.
