Belarusian leader believes Russian transit tariffs impede trade with RK

MINSK. Alexander Lukashenka, President of Belarus, believes that if Russian transit tariffs were lowered it would promote a growth of trade with Kazakhstan. He has stated this at a meeting with Gaziz Aldamjarov, ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belarus, on occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission, Kazakhstan Today reports citing official website of Belarusian President.

"Our commodity turnover is virtually $250 million. It is quite big. I am convinced that if we resolved the transport problem it would reach $1 billion," - he stressed.

The diplomat in his turn expressed a certainty that the commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Belarus would grow significantly in the problem of Russian transit tariffs were resolved within the Eurasian Economic Community.

Kazakhstan has big investment opportunities that could be useful for Belarus.
