India, Belarus agree to cooperate in culture and arts

New Delhi, Apr 17: India and Belarus signed a Programme of Cooperation in the field of culture, arts, education, mass media and press for 2007-2009.

It was signed by Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and Foreign Minister of Belarus, Sergei Martynov here.

According to the programme, both countries will exchange information on international music, dance and folklore festivals to be held in their respective countries.

They will also invite specialists in the field of culture to participate in international events to be held in both countries.

Both the sides will also collaborate in exchanging audio and video in the field of performing arts. They will exchange artistic exhibitions and encourage establishing direct links between the cultural establishments and artistic educational institutions.

Both countries will encourage collaboration between Indian and Belarusian governmental establishments of cinematography and explore possibility of signing a co-production agreement.

To strengthening this, both the sides will organise cinema weeks and will take part in International Film Festivals held in both the countries.

As far as promotion of educational institutions are concerned, the countries will promote establishing direct cooperation between educational institutions of both the countries to implement joint scientific research works, exchange probationers, professors, teachers and students on a parity basis.

Both countries will explore the possibility of mutual exchange of visits of journalists and mass media experts.
