Ministers in talks with Belarus counterparts

MUSCAT - Sayyid Saud bin Ibrahim Al Busaidi, interior minister, received here yesterday Vladimir Naumov, interior minister of Belarus, who is accompanying the Belarus president.

During the meeting, good relations between the Sultanate and Belarus were reviewed and views exchanged on fields of common interest between the interior ministries in the two countries and ways of enhancing them.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, undersecretary at the Interior Ministry, officials at the Interior Ministry and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

l Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, minister responsible for foreign affairs, received Sergei Martynov, minister of foreign affairs in Belarus.

During the meeting, cooperation between the two countries in various fields and ways of strengthening them were discussed, besides exchange of views on regional and international issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by Hussein bin Omar Al Ibrahim, head of the Eastern Europe Department, and officials at the Foreign Ministry.

l Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Zahir Al Hinai, justice minister, received in his office Victor Golovanov, justice minister of Belarus.

During the meeting, cooperation between the two countries, particularly with regard to matters related to justice affairs, judiciary and legislations in the two countries were discussed.

l Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, minister of commerce and industry, received Anatoli Rusetski, minister of industry in Belarus.

During the meeting, relations between the two countries, particularly in the industrial cooperation field were discussed, where the guest minister gave briefing on the industrial sector in Belarus. They also reviewed the possibility of exchanging industrial products and private sector investments in the two countries.

The two sides agreed to continue consultation between them to enhance horizons of cooperation in the industrial sphere and investment opportunities available for the private sector in the two countries.

l Sayyid Al Mutassim bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, minister of state and governor of Muscat, also received Mikhail Pavlov, mayor of Minsk City in Belarus.

Sayyid Al Mutassim welcomed the guest and his accompanying delegation, exchanged cordial conversations on matters of joint interest which would contribute to developing existing relations between the two countries. Sayyid Al Mutassim also briefed the guest on the governorate of Muscat.

In his turn, the mayor of Minsk expressed his satisfaction over his visit to the Sultanate, his admiration over the tourism and civilisational potentials of Muscat Governorate and commending its achievements under the blessed Renaissance of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Said bin Ibrahim Al Busaidi, deputy governor of Muscat and a number of officials at Muscat Governorate.

l Lieutenant-General Malik bin Sulaiman Al Ma'amari, inspector-general of police and customs, received in his office at the Police and Customs Headquarters here yesterday Vladimir Naumov, interior minister in Belarus.

During the meeting, the possibility of exchanging expertise between the two countries and getting acquainted with police activities of each country via exchanging of visits between police officers were discussed, as well as getting familiarised with security industries in Belarus and its training methods.

The meeting was attended by senior Royal Oman Police officers.

l Dr Hilal bin Ali Al Hinai, secretary-general of the Scientific Research Council, received Vladimir Matyushkov, chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee in Belarus.

During the meeting, fields of cooperation between the Sultanate and Belarus were reviewed and views exchanged on ways and means of enhancing them particularly with regard to scientific research.

l Dr Saud bin Nassir Al Riyami, vice-chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), met Vasily Strazhev, vice-chancellor of Belarus University.

During the meeting, aspects of scientific and research cooperation between universities in the two countries were discussed.

The guest toured the university and acquainted himself with the university's scientific and research standard and praised the great scientific standard the SQU reached.
