CPV leader meets Belarus President

Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nong Duc Manh emphasised relations with traditional friends like Belarus, while receiving Belorussian President A. G. Lukashenko in Hanoi on April 7.

General Secretary Manh began with a warm welcome to the Belorussian President saying his return to Vietnam this time is a symbol of fine relations between two close friends, which have made major progress in the recent past.

He thanked the Belorussian Government for providing good conditions for overseas Vietnamese to live and work over there.

General Secretary Manh said Vietnam is determined to work harder towards stronger relations with Belarus, especially in economics, trade, science and education.

President Lukashenko praised the renewal achievements of Vietnam, which he said has increased the nation's international status.

"Belarus always considers Vietnam a reliable partner and wants to further strengthen traditional relations and multi-faceted, long-term and equal co-operation for mutual interest," emphasised the Belorussian President.

He also pledged to help Vietnam boost its relations with other countries in Central Europe and in Europe in general while asking for similar help from the Southeast Asian nation.

President Lukashenko invited General Secretary Manh to visit Belarus and the Vietnamese Party leader accepted the invitation with pleasure. (VNA)
