Judiciary Chief Slams West's Deception

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi Wednesday strongly blasted West's measures and efforts to deceive the other nations under the pretext of defending human rights.

"Despite all its human rights claims, the West acts deceitfully. It is seeking control over resources and interests of the world nations under the cover of defending human rights," Shahroudi said in a meeting with Belarusian Supreme Court chief.

He further blasted West's misuse of the most humanitarian concepts, cautioning that interpreting racism and crime against humanity by the Zionists as "freedom" is a "great danger".

He then mentioned that protests voiced by western representative against Iranian President's speech in Durban 2 antiracism Conference in Geneva last week means West's silence over massacre of innocent Palestinians by the Zionists.

A minority of representatives from 23 organizations and states left the hall in protest at Ahmadinejad's speech. But thousands of others, including the United Nations representatives remained in the hall as Ahmadinejad continued, calling Israel a cruel and racist state and accusing Zionists of using the Holocaust as an excuse to steal Arab land.

Elsewhere, Ayatollah Shahroudi expressed Iran's readiness for legal and judicial cooperation with Belarus.

Iranian judiciary chief left Tehran for Minsk Tuesday afternoon. During his 3-day visit, Shahroudi is scheduled to meet with Belarusian president, parliament speaker and judiciary officials to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation and exchange views on other issues of mutual interest.

A delegation of senior judiciary and diplomatic officials, including deputy head of the judiciary, justice minister and deputy foreign minister, accompany Shahroudi in the trip.
