Gov't official calls for more investment from Belarus

VietNamNet Bridge - Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on April 8 received visiting Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleinik Sergey, who is in Vietnam.

The Deputy PM said he hoped that in the coming time the inter-governmental commission should be divided into working groups to boost cooperation more effectively, especially in the fields of electronics, machinery and automobile engine manufacturing. He said that Belarus could invest in manufacturing in Vietnam.

He added that in the current economic situation, the two governments need to expand their markets to facilitate cooperation between enterprises from both countries.

Aleinik Sergey said Belarus always considers Vietnam an important partner in Southeast Asia. He briefed Deputy PM Hai on the results of the 7th session of the inter-governmental commission and the signing of contracts on exporting machine, car's components and machinery manufacturing.

He said the two countries have great potentials for cooperation in mining, oil and gas, banking, education, nano technology and element scientific research.

At present, Vietnam's farm produce like rice, seafood and coffee have gained footholds in the Belarusian market and in the coming time the two sides should work to double bilateral trade turnover in 2009 from last year, said the Belarusian deputy minister.

Earlier, Aleinik Sergey had a working session with the Chairman of the External Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Van Son.

The two sides exchanged measures to tighten the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus. They expressed hopes that the two legislative bodies of the two countries would enhance cooperation.

They also examined preparations for the official visit to Belarus by NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong late April. Deputy Minister Aleinik Sergey said Belarus is looking forward to the visit.
