Ukraine, Belarus to exchange military for Victory Day parades

KYIV, April 22. /UKRINFORM/. The Ukrainian military will participate in a parade in Minsk (Belarus) on May 9 to mark the 65th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

This was agreed in a phone talks between foreign ministers of Ukraine, Kostiantyn Hryshchenko, and Belarus, Sergey Martynov, according to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

"The ministers finally agreed on the implementation of an agreement previously reached by the presidents of Ukraine and Belarus on the participation of the Ukrainian military in a parade to mark the 65th Anniversary of Victory in Minsk, and a Belarusian subunit - in the 9 May parade in Kyiv," the ministry said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that this agreement represents the recognition of the contribution of Ukrainians in the liberation of Belarus and Belarusians' contribution to the liberation of the Ukrainian lands during the Great Patriotic War.

In addition, the ministers discussed a wide range of urgent issues of bilateral relations, including the preparation of the visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to Belarus, scheduled for late April.

As reported, the Ukrainian military will also take part in a military parade in Moscow (Russia).
