Azarov: Ukraine hopes to double goods turnover with Belarus

Interfax-Ukraine

Cooperation in industry and joint projects in various sectors will help boost goods turnover between Ukraine and Belarus by 1.5-2 times, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at a meeting with Belarusian First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko, the Ukrainian government's press service reported on Wednesday.

"We'll have to consider all the possible ways of cooperation between Ukraine and Belarus in engineering industry, in particular, the manufacture of farming equipment. Demand in agriculture requires a considerable increase in supplies onto the Ukrainian market, therefore we're trying to detect interesting and mutually beneficial projects: Industrial cooperation and other joint projects in various sectors will help boost commodity turnover between our countries by 1.5-2 times," Azarov said.

Semashko in turn said that Belarus is ready to work to establish cooperation in engineering industry.

"We're ready for large-scale cooperation in engineering industry - not only in agriculture, but also in the manufacture of cars and public and municipal transport. These are doable projects," he said.
