Envoy says Turkey-Belarus trade volume to reach $1 bln

The Belarusian ambassador in the Turkish capital said on Wednesday that his country aimed at increasing its trade volume with Turkey to 1 billion USD.

Speaking during a visit to the commerce & industry chamber of the Black Sea province of Samsun, Belarusian ambassador in Ankara Valery Kolesnik said that economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Belarus had grown 5 times in the last 5 years.

Kolesnik said the trade volume between the two countries had dropped to 266 million USD due to the global economic crisis, however, his country desired to increase such figure to 1 billion USD.

The ambassador said Turkey and Belarus had signed 21 economic and commercial cooperation agreements so far, most of which focused on the improvement of the economic ground.

Pointing to the customs agreements signed by the two countries as well, Kolesnik said Turkey and Belarus had no problems regarding customs procedures anymore.
