Russia and Belarus are marking their people’s unity day.
The holiday has symbolically coincided with the abolition of transport control on the Russian-Belarusian border on Friday.
As Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko spoke in Minsk earlier today, he said that the Belarusian-Russian Union has become a motive force behind multilateral integration processes under way in the post-Soviet area.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev pointed out, in his telegramme of response, the importance of setting up the Customs Union and the need for transition to the next stage in integration, - a Eurasian Economic Union.
