EurAsEC inter-parliamentary assembly holds session in Minsk

The 7th session of the inter-parliamentary assembly (IPA) of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) and meetings of its working bodies - bureaus and permanent commissions - will be held in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 25-26 May.

The session's programme envisages working meetings of heads of the National Assembly of Belarus and parliaments of EurAsEC member states, as well as meetings of parliamentarians.

It is expected that permanent commissions of IPA will discuss a number of issues important for the development and strengthening of EurAsEC legal area, particularly, the course of preparation of draft concept papers of the bases of tax legislation and recommendations on harmonization of EurAsEC member states' legislations in the sphere of investment activity regulation, Trade Code, normative documents aimed at countering legalization of criminal incomes and terrorism financing.

Moreover, it is planned to consider offers on unification and harmonization of EurAsEC member countries' legislations concerning the recognition and equivalence of documents on education, as well as customs infringements. Issues of legal maintenance of realization of decisions made by the EurAsEC Court will be in the core of attention.

IPA Bureau will discuss issues concerning the implementation of intergovernmental agreements and decisions of EurAsEC bodies, the practice of improvement of Kazakh legislation in agriculture, as well as changes in the structure of assembly and bureau. Members of the bureau will be presented draft of the Concept of coherent social policy. The document is focused on preparation and realization of single directions of social development, determination of actual socioeconomic problems.

Results of IPA activity on legal maintenance of EurAsEC development in 2005 will be summed up at the session. Parliamentarians will consider corrections in the programme of law-making activity of the assembly for 2006 and next years, and discuss perspectives of EurAsEC development in connection with Uzbekistan's accession to the community
