The National Bank of Belarus has sold nearly 170 polished diamonds weighing a total of more than 45 carats for over US$10,000 since the bank began sales in December 2005.

The bank now sells certified polished diamonds in main offices in Minsk, Gomel, Mogilyov and Brest, and a specialist department in Minsk.

The bank buys rough diamonds at auctions held by Russian diamond-mining monopoly Alrosa. The stones are cut at Belgran, an NBB subsidiary located in Gomel and priced by a commission based on expert appraisals.
